What Is Liposuction?

A cosmetic surgery done to remove fat from different parts of the body is known as liposuction. The other names for liposuction are lipoplasty and suction lipectomy. Cannula and aspirator are the instruments used to remove the fat.

Liposuction is usually done on the abdomen, thighs, breasts or buttocks. We all know that exercise can help in reducing weight. But in certain cases even regular exercise and workouts may not be effective to shed those last extra pounds. Therefore, in these situations, using liposuction techniques is an ideal option. However you must note the fact that liposuction is not a weight loss technique, it is a process of body contouring.

The standard amount of fat removed is approximately 5 kgs or 10 pounds, although the amount being removed depends on the doctor, the patient and the technique being used. Not everyone has a clear idea on how much a liposuction would cost. If you are planning to have liposuction performed, then it is suggested that you know the price of the surgery before you end up being surprised!

There are certain factors on which the liposuction cost is dependent. They are as follows: The number of areas from where the fat is to be removed 1. Your body type 2. The amount of fat to be removed Apart from the above, liposuction cost also depends on the doctors who perform the surgery. The average cost of the procedure for a single part of body can vary from $800 to $1000.

You might be offered discount on the rates if you want to treat multiple areas of the body. The price of the surgery may however include some additional procedures that usually follow the liposuction. Different plastic surgeons consider different aspects in structuring their fees.

Some surgeon fees depend on the time consumed while others may take into account the number of procedures done at the time of the surgery. Then there are some surgeons who structure their fees on the amount of fat being removed.

Owing to the different ways of determining the liposuction costs, the patient must have a comprehensive discussion on the price prior to the surgery. The patients should make sure that they are comfortable with the conditions on which the price was quoted. Let us sum up the different factors on which the total liposuction cost may be dependent.

Geography, surgeon fees, hospital fees, anesthesia costs, garments, medications, etc. are the different factors. So, while discussing the cost before hand, if you feel the price quoted to you is low, do not hesitate to ask what is included in the fees and what will be additional costs. If you feel it is time for you to contour and remodel your body, then go for liposuction and of course verify the prices in advance. However, in spite of the tempting aspect of a newly shaped body, you must know that the recovery process may be somewhat uncomfortable.

It usually takes a few weeks to get back into action. There are certain medications that might help in assuaging the pain. So just take your time to get back to your old, normal routine. Although, liposuction can bring about a change in your life for the better, make sure you pay the right cost and the money spent will be worth it!

Liposuction Techniques And Methods

Liposuction is a way to remove fat quickly and can help sculpt your body. Specific areas may include the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. Although no type of liposuction is a substitute for dieting and exercise, it can remove stubborn areas of fat that do not respond to traditional dieting and exercise.

Over the last 10 years, surgical liposuction (also known as lipoplasty or suction lipectomy) has undergone some refinements. New techniques in the market now include ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), the tumescent technique, and the super-wet technique.

 Surgical Liposuction

During liposuction, localized fat deposits are removed to re-contour certain areas of the body. Through a tiny incision, a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies beneath the skin. The cannula breaks up the fat cells, suctioning them out. The suction action is provided by a vacuum pump or a large syringe, depending on the surgeon's preference.

The problem with liposuction plastic surgery is that fluid is lost along with the fat, and it is vital that this fluid be replaced during the procedure to prevent shock. For this reason, patients need to be carefully supervised and receive intravenous fluids during and immediately after this procedure.

Fluid injection: a medicated solution is injected into fatty areas before the fat is removed. The fluid is a mixture of intravenous salt solution, lidocaine (a local anesthetic) and epinephrine (a drug that contracts blood vessels). The fluid helps to remove fat easily, helps reduce blood loss and provides anesthesia pre and post surgery and also helps reduce bruising.

Tumescent liposuction: a technique used on patients who only need a local anesthetic. This procedure can take up to 5 hours. Large volumes of fluid, often as much as three times the amount of fat to be removed are injected in this technique. The injected fluid contains an adequate amount of anesthetic, which could cut the anesthetists costs.

The Super-Wet technique: similar to the tumescent technique, except that lesser amounts of fluid are used. Usually the amount of fluid injected is equal to the amount of fat removed. This technique often requires IV sedation or general anesthesia and typically takes one to two hours of surgery time.

 Non-surgical Liposuction

A new breakthrough in non-invasive body technology is Body Contouring, which removes excess fat cells without surgery, focusing on the hips, stomach, thighs, bottoms and flanks.

This non-surgical liposuction is a safe, painless, surgery-free body contouring treatment. The process sends ultrasound beams into the problem area to destroy fat cells. The entire procedure is guided by innovative tracking technology that ensures smooth, uniform contouring.

Body Contouring is the latest successful technology for the effective removal of excess fat. Together with Ultrashape, a scientific breakthrough which redefines the contours of your body, it is a great alternative to surgery. There are no side effects to this treatment that takes between 1 and 2 hours, and it is possible to resume your daily routine immediately thereafter. Liposuction can give you the body you so desire, but do remember to know all about the procedure before you decide to take the plunge.

Liposuction Treatment For Dream Curves

Do you need to maintain weight loss after liposuction? Yes, you do. Many people undergo this surgical procedure thinking that this will solve flabby issues. But doctors who do these procedures will still advise you to have an effective diet and exercise scheme right after the surgery. You see, liposuction only gets rid of excess fats in one part of the body. It is up to you to tone your body and slim down evenly.

To help you out, here are some of the helpful tips you can try:

Tip 1: Instead of eating 3 big meals in a day, eat 5 small meals instead and ditch nightcaps. 5 small meals keep you sated the whole day without craving for snacks in between. Eat a protein-rich breakfast so you are less likely to binge and crave for sinful snacks during the day. Most of the time, it is the snacks that piles on weight.

Tips on Maintaining Weight Loss After

Liposuction

Tip 2: Drink lots of water and fruit juices but make sure you reduce salt intake. Drinking lots of water, especially cold ones can keep your metabolism working without increasing your caloric intake. However, make sure you reduce salt intake because this can retain fluid and make you feel bloated.

Tip 3: Make healthier food substitutes. Instead of a whole pork chop, remove the fat and eat lean meat. Or better yet, substitute it with white meat such as chicken and fish. White meat does not pack a lot in trans fat.

Tip 4: Exercise everyday in short intervals. One hour everyday seems like an unrealistic goal. You should consider doing short exercise routines, say for about 20 minutes per day. Once you have already fully adapted to your workout routines, you can tweak it up a bit to make it more challenging. But if you have a hard time sticking to your exercise routine at the moment, make it easier to stick with.

Non-Surgical Liposuction Alternatives

Tip 5: Ditch unhealthy carbohydrates and go for healthier ones. Just like tip 3, allow yourself to make healthier food choices. Instead of white past, go for whole grain past. Instead of white bread, go for wheat bread or whole grain bread.

Tip 6: Don't skip meals. Skipping meals will only send your metabolism to rock bottom functioning. The last thing you need is a slow metabolic rate which is why you need to try the first tip.If you try these tips, you can easily maintain weight loss after liposuction. Throw in a good exercise regimen with a healthy diet and you will look fabulous in no time.
